What is the town of Wilcox like? What the housing like and are there things for the family to do? Thanks. |
Nada, Nothing, Zilch. Oh wait they have Rex Allen Days. Its a small little farming / cattle town on the I-10. Not a lot there anymore. I wouldn't mind living there. I grew up in a small town near there. If you like shooting, which I'm sure you do. You can either shoot off your front porch or be in a shooting safe area in like 5 minutes. To bad I'm not driving through it next week other wise I would take some pics. Is about 1 1/2? East of Tucson, AZ. |
Willcox is a nice place to stop for lunch as you head for someplace else .I don't know about in town, but property in the surrounding areas can be had fairly cheap. Most places have their own well. Be sure to check ground water levels and water contamination before buying anything. Lots of things to do, if you are an outdoors type. Hiking, camping, shooting, horse back riding, dirt bike/quad riding, etc. Some interesting historic sites in the area, if you don't mind driving. There isn't much to do that doesn't require at least 30 minutes driving time. Not much on the employment side of things. Manual labor or retail/fast food pretty much covers it. That's about all I can think of, at the moment. Oh yeah, there is a very active railroad track running through town, all day, all night. |

It is a small town in the middle of the Sulfur Springs Valley. It is hot and dusty. It is about 1-1/2 hours from Tucson and shopping. It is near the Dragoon mountains with Cochise Stronghold. It is close to the Chiricahua Mountains that are very scenic. It is also close to Mt. Graham near Safford. There are a lot of mines near by and a lot of ghost towns to explore. As for work the only thing there is the school or the power plant. So you may have to commute. Oh ya, they have Rex Allen Days or did some one already say that! And Tex Earnhardt has a ranch down there, and that's no bull! It is a nice quiet little farming and ranching town that has all but dried up. |
