How does one go about getting a prescription for window tint?  I bought a truck from a guy who had tinted glass put into the front windows.  Its not very dark, somewhere between 30%-50% (not the film that you stick on the glass actually tinted glass, like the rear window).  If I need to "fix it" I would need to get brand new windows for both doors and have them installed which probly isnt very cheap.  I got pulled over by a cop today (barely could speak english,  I thought about just speaking spanish to him but then I remembered I dont know Spanish)  When he got done doin his thing he said he ran out of paper so I was just getting a verbal warning and he told me I could get a prescription for it if I needed.

So do I just go to my eye doctor and say "hey I need a paper for it"?

Doctors are very reluctant to give the prescriptions nowadays, as "the secret is out" on tinting, so you would have to either really need the tint, or have a cool optometrist.

Just a heads up. My wife works for an eye doctor, and if I remember correctly she told me that those prescriptions are only good for 1 year. And that after the 1 year they are not renewable.. This doesnt make a whole lot of sense and I dont know if this is how it works for all of them but that is what I know about ours for sure.

Do you have a pres. then?  I think maybe the cop was just having one of his days or that he neededs to fill his quota for the month.  I've had "lightly" tinted windows for I dont know how long and never been bothered but I know atleast 3 people were pulled over within an hour today.  It could be that most of the cops in our town (and by that I mean only my town, most of the time me and cops are "cool" together except when they're from my town) are worthless d!cks.......but whatever

I was referring to the prescripton from the Doc. I dont know if other Docs are different, (I wouldnt think so, but you never know) so it wouldnt hurt to check with the one that  you know.

I think I got a appt. coming up here soon so I'll have to check.  I'm gonna lay low for awhile or atleast till the begining of the next month and they'll probly forget about it.
