The book was great. Movie appears to have connection to the book but not a direct copy by my recollection. Especially how they mound on each other like ants. Creep out.

I read the book - it is very good. If you are not a zombie genre fan, read the book and insert your favorite end of world theme in place of zombie - smallpox, ebola, whatever. Read the book with an eye toward how each nation reacts to the outbreak and the failure of civilization.
The line "if I am prepared for the zombie apocalypse, aren't I ready for anything" is great thought for this book. There is a chapter in the book where a Heavy Infantry Brigade with artillery fire support and Apaches gets overrun............I am a former Mech Infantry BFV leader, it scared me! |

It's an excellent book. I wasn't sure if i'd like the "interview" format, but it worked really well. Kinda creepy how the world fell apart. Creepy as in it's very possible, maybe even likely, that if something like that were to happen that that's how it would really go down.

I've read the book twice; started my Zombie fascination with it, read about ten other books and came back to it. It's about the best of the bread.
My understanding is the movie is not like the book at all; while the book took a historical perspective the movie is ongoing as the outbreak occurs. From the trailer, the movie appears to be much better than I expected, but we shall see. additional info I just found From the IMDB website: Is the movie based on the book: No, while the book and movie share the same name the movie in it's current state is only resembling the book in name. The plot is completely changed from post war report to prewar prevention. |

I just got the book for the kindle Dang this book is awesome! I have never really liked zombie movies but this book is great! Just one word of advice, don't start reading it before you go to bed. One you won't be able to put it down. And two when you do fall asleep you will dream about it! |

My favorite flavor of zombies, those that are faster than the survivors! I'll catch the midnight opening for this one. this! slow moving zombies stories makes it impossible for me to achieve suspension of disbelief. i mean how can something be dangerous that moves no faster than 1 or 2 mph? i am legend and this has zombies i can believe in. |

Damn. So after seeing the trailer and reading the comments about the book I ordered it from Amazon. Showed up yesterday and I was up until 1AM reading the damn thing. Got well over half of it done before I figured I had to finally go to bed.
Really good book. Will probably finish it tonight. |

I just got the book for the kindle I will venture a bet you finish within 2 days. It reads fast keeping you engaged. If you like it, try the Day by Day books. I just started Day by Day last night, and so far I like it better than the WW Z book. Talk about a book that will make you paranoid. |

Might have to get that one next :-) Day by Day Armageddon is written by J.L. Bourne, US Navy. There are four short books now. Hands down some of the best zombie books ever written. In here you will see some of the basis for what you viewed in the trailer for World War Z. |

I read WW Z first, then:
The Day By Day series, then the Dying To Live series, then Area 187, then The Morningstar Strain series, then Tooth and Nail, then The A New World series... Then WW Z again. What I discovered was with the exception of Dying to Live, they were all better than WW Z; except they aren't. WW Z is so innovative it really was a great book. After reading through the others, WW Z really became even better. The first Day By Day was excellent; the second not so much. A New World is pretty good; very realistic plot except for the first books rescue. They're good though. ... |
