So my .22 Sparrow SS finally got out of jail this week and i dont own anything to put it on! I need a good rifle and pistol host and am soliciting opinions. I was looking at the Savage MKII for a rifle and the Ruger 22/45 lite or M&P 22 for pistol. Im just planning on plinking and teaching my boy to shoot (one day) so i am looking for fun/reliable hosts.
And for those that are interested, i submitted the Form 4 on July 22 )2013), it was approved April 25, and the paperwork landed in Dawsonville two days ago. Way too long IMO, but what can ya do?

Way too long IMO, but what can ya do? ![]() Cool deal. I picked up a Tirant 45 today, but I filed at the end of November. The savage is hard to beat. Really is. My favorite rifle host right now is the Browning T- bolt, but you can but 2-3 of the savages for what the browning costs. On the handgun without getting custom and wierd I'd toss my vote in fir the M&P or a buck mark. Ruger .22 pistols are dead to me. You'll be happy with the sparrow on the long gun. On the handgun you'll notice a bit of FRP on the first 2-3 rounds but it calms down after that. |
| Good choices for 22 suppressed - you can't go wrong with any of those three. I have a Ruger 22/45 Lite Mk III with a Volquartsen accurizing kit wearing a Burris Fast Fire III. Great, fun and accurate pistol. I also have a M&P 22. I shoot both of these suppressed. The Savage is as quiet as they come suppressed - will make you smile with subsonic 22. |
| I have a Sparrow SS and use it on my Ruger 22/45 threaded barrel (not the Lite) which I love. My Ruger came from Barrow NAPA and Guns, factory threaded with high adjustable sights. I added some cool VZ grips. a VQ Mark II trigger kit, and a filler strip for the removed ECI, plus did the "slingshot" mod. So now it is a Mark II, basically, with a good trigger. Everyone who shoots it loves it. I took it to the "S Monroe County" HTF get together recently, and a lot of y'all shot it. I love it. |
