For 144: UOC may not be a protected right in court (it's not that useful anyway)... and LE agency lobbying was high on this one. The drama was mostly brought about by the UOCers and their threats to carry long guns can screw up some need fixups where gunnies and other groups need to cooperate. The long gun registration (unlike handgun) is likely fixable given recent DC Circuit ruling. I'm confident that eMeg would have signed everything that Brown did and would not have vetoed 427 or signed 610. So yes, I'd rather have Brown than Meg. I'm single-issue voter. I don't care about anything else. Bill |

I've got some insite on how the long gun registration is going to result in people getting felony charges for CCW as an unintended consequence. Something the legislature didnt think about but that every cop with an MDT/MDC has noticed. |

These will be fun to defend and a profit center (i.e, billable hours recovered) to support future litigation. CCW is for concealable only. Just because MDT firmware and back end software is poorly implemented by people having no legal background does not stop derivative actions from resulting in There are tens of millions of (legally) unregistered handguns AND rifles in CA. | I also didn't want either, however, once the primaries were over, that's what we were left with. I don't know what Meg would have done, she doesn't have a "real" record to look at but I never did see her as "pro gun." I'm still VERY skeptical of Brown but the ccw clean up and vetoing the ammo ban is a step in the right direction. The long gun registration, as far as I know, goes in to effect in 2014, could be enough time to beat it up pretty good. The one that pisses me off is the reallocation of the DROS fees. I suppose, all in all, it could have been worse. |
