| Anyone going to Spirit tomorrow to watch the Blue Angels? |
| I'm gonna pass. I was the McDonnell Douglas Business Development liaison to the team back in the mid-90s and got my fill of the crowds and the show. I was allowed on the flight line to photograph the airshow and had some of my stuff published in their yearbook. I did get to know some really fine folks and one or two who weren't. Their PAO at the time (a young Lt John Kirby) is now the Pentagon Press Secretary (Rear Admiral). He was one of the really good guys. |

I was out there today and it was a great show! One downside though, the traffic was awful. With that said, I'll probably go tomorrow again. I got caught in the traffic, 94 to boones crossing took me 1:15... geez bad day to try to shop, upside was the stores were GHOST TOWNS People watching from the levees, the parking lots, camping out under trees.. hell of a day for an airshow! The Blue Angels were tearing ass around when we were leaving the valley, screaming around real low, too bad they don't let them go REALLY fast

I went up 270 and the exits to I-64 were jammed. I wound up going to Page and took 94 which worked pretty well. I hopped on 64 east towards Spirit and got about 1.5 miles before it jammed up. Luckily it only took me about 25 mins to get across the Boone Bridge and down to the parking grounds. I read on the airshow's Facebook page that their are going to honor tickets bought Saturday if you didn't get in due to the excessive delays. It was an awesome show! |
