hi gang,

just got back from the range.

shot a 100rds of wolf through my new to me
ak74.

also, shot 100rds of wolf 223, 200rds of winchester 223
through my preban bushmaster m4.

the range was 75 ft maximum distance.  the facility is
clean and well built.  the owners and employees are courteous.

i purchased my 5.45 wolf from them at $100 for 250rds and range
time was $25 per hour.

my ak74 ran flawlessly.  i was worried the sites and or
fsb would be canted but as far as i can tell they are not.

center target was my first magazine of 25.  as you can see i was a little
all over the place.  the bottom left target was my second magazine of 25.

my group is a little tighter as i got used to the sight picture and ergonomics
of an ak platform.  i will definitely need to switch to nato furniture as the
shorter stock was uncomfortable for me to shoot and i had a hard time
getting a good cheek weld.  i'm definitely liking the gun as long as it
continues to function.  once wooster mountain opens up, i will shoot
surplus ammo and really put it through it's paces.  fyi, the fsb block
and receiver gets really hot after shooting a magazine.

comparison of wolf 5.45 on the left with wolf 223 on the right.

best,

cl

Tactical Arms is pretty nice. Not cheap, but about the same as the other indoor places in the area. Service can vary, but tends to be pretty good. Some friends and I go regularly.

That's the same shooting station I used last time we were there.

It looks like a decent place to shoot.  I wish there was a good public range in Southeast CT (I'm only minutes from the Ledyard Sportsman Club, but I'm not a member).  Right now, I plan on going to Hoffmans on the second to shoot my Glock 17 and the 22/45 I just bought.

Love that range.  Wish it wasn't such a haul to get there.

It is a haul, but a nice drive in the summer or fall if you go up through the mountains and avoid the highway.   Lots of fun stuff in that shop.

I have to post the video of my wife blasting away with their MAC 10 on full auto later on when I get in from work.
