Ok, so who knows any good smiths in the STL area that are trustworthy to thread a barrel for suppressor use and move the front sight back? Host is an older Savage .22 MKII. Suppressor will be a Spectre II. Any trustworthy around or should I just send it to ADCO? Thanks gents.

PS, will going from the 20in barrel to 16in lose any accuracy?

I had a CZ 452 threaded by C&S metal werks in St Charles. They didnt need to move the sight since there wasnt one.

Happy with the work? Price? Turnaround? Concentric threads?

Ken also threaded one for me a while back but it didn't have sights either. He did a great job but his turn around can be a bit lengthy. If he's busy he may not want to bother with one that requires moving the sight.  I'd give him a call and see what he says.

Truthfully I don't even know why I asked about turnaround lol, as I won't be home or see the rifle till Christmas time. Thanks guys. I sent them an email and will probably call later this week.

Accuracy may get better, worse, or stay the same. In general, a shorter barrel of the same thickness will whip less which should be more accurate. Harmonics can get better or worse. I read somewhere online about a guy who cut down his barrel every inch and accuracy sometimes got better and sometimes worse. Assuming the crown is perfect every time then that impossible to gauge harmonics come into play.

You will lose muzzle velocity which means your bullet drop and wind drift will be greater.

Mike at Eagle Eye does great work. My go to guy for anything "priority" or really important.

I sent my 10/22 barrel off to some place in Ohio.  It was on the rimfire forum here.  There are three places .......Que Custom Barrel, Hanging Tree Armory, and ACP? ADCO Firearms.  I dont remember which one, but it was $75 with return shipping and I had it back in 2 weeks.  They cut it down to 16", threaded, and moved the front sight back.  I'll try to find the receipt, because I don't think they did email or credit cards.  Had to call and send a money order.  ADCO and Hanging Tree are both in Ohio, but I think it was Hanging Tree--whose website is no defunct.

Ken, at CS in St. Charles.  Will be heading there in a few.  I have three that he threaded and they are all 100%.  Reasonable price and turn-a-round was quick....probably 2 weeks.
