I'm putting a Leupold VX-R 'Hog' scope on our Beowulf. It's a 1.25-4x20 with a 30mm main tube. I'm assuming I need 30mm rings but what mount should I use? I have the Burris PEPR on my M&P15-22 and it seems rock solid but i have to be sure whatever I choose can handle Beowulf recoil.  Any recommendations? I've got the scope waiting in my shopping cart but I'm waiting to get a scope mount to go with it. Thanks

Larue

I have this one on my Vortex PST 1-4X scope that is a 30mm tube. Works great and has great eye relief and easy on/off without losing zero.

Yikes...that's nice but a little too much $$$ for what I need. Just need a strong scope mount, nothing fancy.

I think I'll just get another PEPR.

Done and done....soon our Beowulf will have a new padded collapsible stock and eyes...then comes the BOOM!

I use these:
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/148716/burris-30mm-xtreme-tactical-picatinny-style-rings-matte-low-package-of-2

they're expensive now days; I think when I bought I got them on sale or with a coupon but iirc I paid approx $40/set for the 30mm and 1" models.

and these:
Rock River Arms Hi-Rise Scope Mount - 30 Millimeter
http://www.pkfirearms.com/Other_Scope_Mounts/118/c

these are great I got both the 30mm and 1" models for $50/set; the cantilever models are $60ea; these are solid mounts but heavy.

got the pepr 30mm and 1" models; had issues with two sets of the 30mm but the vendor made right on them and the third set was good.

I've used the millet steel windage adjustable AR models too; they work well also and hold up to recoil pretty Goddamned good.

Brandi, you ever consider irons for what is basically a close in brush gun?
i can easily put em in the black of a NRA hi-power target  at 100 yds with my Socom.

Not with my vision...I probably couldn't see a target at all at 100 yards.

These are the 30 mm rings I used on my Vortex Viper scope, they are excellent rings and the extra high is the perfect height to use on an AR, many rings aren't high enough to use on an AR without a riser, these are PERFECT!  And the price is right!!!!

I've got these rings in 1" and 30 mm on almost all of my AR's now, there isn't a better deal on rings.

If the PEPR doesn't work I'll ty those...I'm suspecting now it will be too short.

looked over on swfa and they've got the extreme rings $10 cheaper than midway.

I like the low & med rings when scoping an ar with a collapsible stock; I feel I get a bit better cheek weld on the stock with the lower rings.

they do limit you as to what scope and handguard/ff tube you use and if you're mounting a buis though.

I used the "med" to mount a 1" nikon 4x12x40 on my last assembly; the front bell barely clears the ms1 ff tube; but the whole set up works well.

one thing I've noticed with the RRA mounts I mentioned in an above post is they're extra high and I don't get as good of cheek weld on the a2 stock with them; I ended up putting a 1/2" cheek pad on my varmint rifle to get  decent weld; once I installed it my groups got a bit more consistent or at least seem to to me.

Actually $5 cheaper.  I haven't really tried any shorter rings than extra high with a collapsible stock, I do have a set of high rings and you can't get low enough to see properly through the scope on a A2 stock, and there really isn't that much difference between the A2 and a collapsible stock when you look at their position relative to the buffer tube, neither one really raises the point of view more than about 1/4".
