Hello. I just brought a hunting rifle down with me when I drove back here from Phoenix. It's a Thompson center 54 caliber cap lock. I don't have enough powder, nor do I have balls and patches (all I have are minie balls) which I don't really want to hunt with). I am also in need of a capping tool and a ball starter like so.   Are there any gun shops in the Raleigh-Durham area that would carry this kind of stuff? |

Black powder supplies are easy to find in the Raleigh area though 54 caliber items specifically can be difficult. Things like the capper, ball starter, patches, etc. can be found at Gander Mountain in Morrisville. This fall Bass Pro shops will open in Cary and they always have a good supply and in another year a Cabelas will be opening in Garner. Though many don't buy from them because of what they did with AR orders after Sandy Hook, I will also mention that Dick's Sporting Goods carries black powder accessories, balls, patches, etc....though finding 54 caliber may be difficult (most of the stuff is 50 cal and below). |
