| My dad works for the state as a corrections officer and he has to requalify every year with a pistol. Since this is for the state already ,does he need to go through a training course for his ccw or can he just apply for it and get it? |

If he is certified as a peace officer he does not have to get a CCW permit. As far as I know Corrections guys are not certified. He will have to go through the same course as everyone else to carry. Also he will not be able to take it to work (locked in car not in the prision) unless he gets permission from the Warden to have it on the property. |

My wife and I are both CO's. I took the CCW course to see if it was all that. IT WASN'T ! She got a letter from our training officer showing all the firearms training she has had for the revolver. Took it to the county sheriff. He contacted the TO at the institution to confirm his credentials and that was it. Got her permit faster then me. Regulator13 2004-05 OIF-2 |
