I was just wondering if any one had used or considered getting something like what this website provides.
ccwsafe.com I have a friend who has his CCW in Texas and just got a membership and says he feels better now having this coverage. Just quickly- they provide legal representation if you are ever in a use of force situation because of your concealed carry permit. I was just curious. |

covers you wherever your permit is honored. It covers you in your home, car, on the road, while out in public, in any state in the US that honors your permit. So if you were passing through a state where you permit isn't honored, say driving through NY to get to VT, legal under FOPA, you'd be SOL if you got jacked up there. |

If you're traveling under FOPA, your guns are unloaded, cased, and packed away in your trunk or rear cargo area - so you're not going to be shooting anyone with them anyway. This product doesn't cover every sort of gun-related issue in the world, only actual use of force in self-defense. $99/year sounds pretty cheap - I'm trying to find the catch. It has no insurance component (so if you're sued and lose, it doesn't pay any of that) but it claims to pay all legal and expert fees. Of course, I'd assume that also means that they get to pick the lawyers and experts, which may or may not be a good thing for you. |

i dont know, sounds kinda... gimmicky... how long has this firm/company been around? since just after Zimmerman perhaps? ETA they say 2011 on the site, but this sounds like a easy way to get easy money off some people to me. I'd agree. They'd have to have an awful lot of $99 subscribers to be able to afford the bills on even one contested shooting. They say it's not an "insurance" scheme, but financially that's exactly what it is. On the other hand, there are very few legitimate self-defense shootings each year, so their statistical risk is pretty low. |

I'm guessing they have to claim it's not insurance to get around all the varying state regulations that govern how insurance is sold/covered. What happens when someone ends up in a high profile case like Zimmerman and the cost start running into the hundreds of thousands. Suddenly they are telling you to pound sand. |
