Has anyone tried this stuff ? i,ve picked up a few rounds of it today. Its the 32 gram 2 3/4" one. Its looks identical to the s+b special slug, same ribs etc, and looks fairly light. Just wondered what it was like , recoil wise, before i test it over the chrono tomorrow.

Shoots like a slug....... but comes apart after 50 or 100 yards  (depending on which ones you bought)  Seem to shoot accurately enough.   Basically an extended range buckshot.  Not much good for target shotgun.

Hmmm. I dont think its the same as youve tried Phil. This is a std ribbed slug, and i dont think the wad is attached to it. I want it for the 100/200 yard shotgun comp at the phoenix. I have a cunning plan involving a supernova and a scope.......

Is it section 1 stuff or is it the stuff you can buy on a normal shotty certificate.

Tested it this morning Phil, its the section 1 slug.

Ouch.

Its doing 1500 fps which is too much for target shotgun, but it will be fine for the long range comp....providing i can keep the scope away from my eyebrow.

It kicks like a mule, and a beeach recoil shield is gonna have to worn.

Why and what were you shooting it through?

Should,ve explain better submariner. No reason why it cant be used for target shotgun...it doesn,t break any rules....its the bloody recoil  !!
From testing loads of slug, and homeloads with different powder, wads etc, we decided [ my mate and me ] that the best sort of velocity was around 1050 - 1100 fps with a slug. Its plenty fast enough to be accurate for the ranges involved in target shotgun, but more importantly, the recoil isn,t painfull, and you can get the shotgun back down on target faster. Some of the COF,s require 2 shots in 3 seconds, so fast re-aquisition is vital. This slug is just too pokey for that.
The best one so far is the sellior and bellot practical, and also special slug. Its just getting hold of it thats the problem. I picked up the last two boxes that edgars had last week, and Westlander is awaiting supplies too. I,m not paying the NRA,s prices, unless i,m absolutely forced to.
I,m shooting it through a benelli m2 practical, and a supernova.
