I am not getting divorced, or even thinking of it, but the rash of divorce and child support threads recently made me curious.
In a marriage where the child is adopted does the normal child support rules apply?
I have read about where men are told they should get a paternity test in case the child isn't theirs biologically.
A child that was adopted would not be biological offspring, so what happens then?

Adoption, in Texas anyway, makes official and legally binding the relationship of father and child.  New birth certificates are issued, and legal responsibilities are same as if biological.

Even if the kid isn't genetically the same as the father (product of an affair) the "father" will still get hit for child support.  As long as the individual has acted as the father for the child, he's on the hook.

Forget the adoption thing...In Texas you can 100% NOT be the father and still have to pay CS.
This is one system that needs some serious reform.
