Just want to point out that you can actually join none or all of these clubs at their quite varying prices.  But you do not have to join any to participate in the competitions.  Most of their comps are open to the public.  Your choice, depending on what you need, of course.  Check each club for specific rules on competition participation.

I shoot a little competition here and there as well :)

Here is a list of what's going on in the state. Sometimes they start earlier in the Summer months to beat the heat:

Benton Gun Club www.bentongunclub.org/

Speed Steel - 3rd Saturday

IDPA - 4th Saturday at 0900

CASA www.casarange.com

USPSA - 1st Sunday @1000

Steel Challenge - 2nd Saturday

MVSA - www.mvsaonline.com

USPSA - 4th Saturday @ 1000

IDPA - they have changed their schedules up - not sure when they are anymore

Pine Bluff Gun Club - Info on matches in PB, Last Resort and the surrounding area can be found at www.cardboardkiller.com

IDPA - 2nd Saturday 0900

Last Resort - White Hall

IDPA - 1st Saturday 0900

Old Fort Gun Club www.oldfortgunclub.com

USPSA - 3rd Sunday

3 Gun - 5th Sunday (on months where there is a 5th Sunday)

There is also a range at Nighthawk and in Berryville, but they are outside of your 2hr range. So is Texarkana - it's on the Texas side. They don't shoot during the winter.

I'm assuming your active stationed at LRAFB. Go talk to some folks from the 189th and ask them about their Base Marksmanship Program. There are quite a few opportunities for the guard guys to get involved in all kinds of marksmanship competitions. We'll be shooting the state matches down there at Camp Robinson some time in the spring...come on out and at least watch.
