Quoted: http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/awguide.pdf THE ILLEGAL LIST FOR THE STATE FOR COLT'S ? COLT AR-15 (ALL) LAW ENFORCEMENT (6920) MATCH TARGET (ALL) SPORTER (ALL) OFF LIST LOWERS GUIDE ( ARE OTHER MODELS ALSO) COLT* CAR-A3 H-BAR ELITE CARBINE You are still NOT doing good job in explaining as to why the Match Target is prohibited and the Carbine is allowed. I perused through the linked PDF document and still don't see Match Target specifically named as an AR15 series weapon. (ETA: nevermind... it's on page 63) thanks. |

The rifle has to be banned by make AND model. The 6921 and 6940 are not banned by name, and are thus legal. Things get tricky depending on the lower used for the 6921 and 6940 though, specifically if the roll mark says "law enforcement" on it. |

The 6921 is rollmarked "M4LE" and law enforcement. There can be no confusion between a 6921 lower and a 6920 which does not have these markings. The 6940 lower is identical to the 6920 lower, in which case I would be sure to have good model number documentation for that one.
The raised pinned sear block may allow use of an SP1 AR-15 type bolt carrier. I haven't had that style and tried it. It may also allow for other brand of carriers to be used. It will not allow the use of an M16 type bolt carrier. If I get additional information, I will correct the original post. -W |
