| question . pit bull jumps into my yard with my 3 year old and wife sitting down in the lawn. neighbor s visitor has this pit and has been ask to keep it under control 2 times, can I draw down on this beast ?what's the law on that |

Unless the dog is going for you or your family members I would see a very difficult time in justifying discharging a firearm in your backyard. Just because it is a Pitbull does not necessarily mean it is aggressive. If it is threatening however the first step would be to try and go into the house.
If that is not possible I would think a baseball bat would be a better weapon if the dog attacks your family members. Would you discharge a firearm at an animal so close to your wife or child? If the dog is not near them then how would you justify shooting it and not getting charged with animal cruelty? I have no idea what the law actually is but there are many things to think about. Once that bullet is fired it can never be recalled. |

You shoot that dog and life will end as you know it. Between the law and the zealots at the SPCA your done. Possibly so. 1: The biggest possibly offensive part being killing a animal, even if you were threatened by it. 2:The second being discharging a firearm, some towns have ordinances on this. 3: If your found guilty of the first(by the police), expect unlawful possession of weapons. 4: After they raid your gun safe (looking for more weapons mind you), they will find your "AR15, AK47, G3, etc etc etc" or other type of "bullet hose baby face melters"(you are posting here right?), and possession of assault weapons will be added. The above was all theoretical, proceed at your own risk! I personally would inform the neighbors that if the dog is seen on my property one more time, it will be neutralized. |
| Be a fucking man and pick the goddamn dog up and put it back in the dudes yard (fuck it, throw it over the fence if you want, they can take it) and tell the neighbor a little bit more sternly that it's unacceptable. It's a dog like any other dog, dogs do shit that dogs do. Freaking out about it because it's a Pit Bull is as retarded as thinking someone can kick your ass because they're black. The *majority* of pit bulls are not going to bite you even if you're an asshole and beat the shit out of them. |

Do what I did, go over the the neighbors and tell them to keep the dog in their yard, if you hear a peep out of the dog, call the PD, 3 to 4 times a day will fix it all, like punching a bully in the face, dont touch the dog, it is property. |

Had a pit bull attack our old sick GS, he was a faithful friend....he fought the pit bull, that was untill I grabbed it by the tail and neck. Started to swing it's head towards a tree... owner came and apoligized, I told her that the dog was too aggressive for her and get rid of it..she did, paid our dogs vet bill....Celtic law....the biggest baddest makes the rules...but you have to smile when you do it.
Seriouslly though, jerzy sucks, buddy of mine an ACPD captain shot a dog that attacked him, he went through so much shit, now they took ACPD's K9s off the street...cause they were so mean and scary to the poor miscreants in the city, see previous rant |

If your going to call the police and you already warned your neighbor then just sign a complaint for the dog at large. Just calling the police does nothing and them signing a complaint rather than you means nothing as you will be subpeoned to court anyway. If nothing else this is the only way to have the problem properly documented and your best way to avoid destroying someones property. Trust me shooting a charging dog is not that easy and discharing a firearm in near others is dangerous so if you can avoid it you should. Which is going to result in harder feelings with your neighbor, killinging or injuring the dog or a small fine? If you do kill the dog then wouldn't it be nice to be able to refer to court paperwork that you were doing the best you could to avoid that action? If you really want to aviod problems take the correct actions even though I don't blame you for wanting to just blast the damn thing.

You can do anything you want. Be ready to spend $650.00 per hour for the next 6 years for legal fees. If you win in court you may still ruin you financial life. ....."Why did you let your daughter play in the yard when you were aware of the dogs behaviour problem" (defense attorney talking to you in court) Go to court to observe what goes on |

It all depends on the situation for me, if I could get out of there without having to shoot I would. But if it started to attack game on, legal BS bring it on.
My brother and I were coming home from fishing one day and saw a guy walking his dog down the street, saw a pitbull come out of a house across the street making a beeline towards the guy and his dog. I tried to run over the dog as it crossed me but missed. As the pit is attacking the guy and dog my brother and I beat it with aluminum rod holders after one sliced the dogs nose it ran back home. FWIW I had my firearm on me but the situation at the time did not call for it. |
