I stopped in the middle of the road until someone told me what was going on!!! a deputy told I had to move, I said after you tell me whats going at my daughter school, he was pissed!! but told and accident with some fifth graders. so I move along since my lil one is in the 4th!! I live about a mile away I hear life flight coming to land so head back up to watch. rest of the story in the link!

Anytime we have anything happen near or at one of our schools, I send out an emergency (Nixle) alert and post it on our Facebook page to advise parents as to what is happening or that we are there on a non-emergency matter. |

Probably with fewer exclamation points, and by not stopping in the middle of the road Nothing like causing another situation requiring first responders when one is already being handled

Well! The! Road I stopped on is a side road of the school only school traffic or local area people travel on to get from 27 to Rosemont rd!!! So their no danger of me causing an accident. Ain't like I slammed brakes in the middle of a busy highway!! And for the exclamations deal with it!! :?
Has anyone heard any more reports on the two in Atlanta? |

Just offered for consideration: While your concern is well justified, and while you may think that your singularly stopping to inquire about the situation is an issue, consider every other vehicle coming through the area to do the same thing. Such situations can very quickly turn into a cluster. Also, such situations usually involved a planned evac route or a planned ingress/egress route. Consider the above when every vehicle is stopping seeking an explanation. You may not think that you are causing a problem, but you may just be in the very route they intended to use for other purposes.

That is your uninformed opinion, hardly a fact and causing an accident is not the only concern when obstructing a travel lane. I can only imagine why the officer was upset at you blatantly breaking the law during a situation that they were responding too and potentially compromising their ability to act and causing untold harm to those that were being responded too. But hey, so long as you got what you wanted

Like I said side road. no traffic on it. even when people are picking up kids it is a one way line only. guess you have to know the area. its more like a long drive on side of school. I would never have stop in traffic to cause a cluster fawk. I arrived after all first responders did.
and Blofeld plz tell me how I was breaking the law? opinion, not a fact don't understand either and the only reason I didn't pull over and get out was cause I was carrying, that's why I never left my truck or the road. I also ran into that deputy today in town. we talked and determined that I was rightfully worried dad, and he just starting to clear the rd (at the same time I pulled up) to get life flight in the hay field across the side rd. which was easy since I was the only vehicle on it.... today at work I had time to think about what happened and why I reacted like I did. cause first thought was some idiot done got some people trapped in he gym and killed or injured kids and adults, and I wanted to know where my daughter was. |

Not judging your particular situation since I wasn't there but it can be very frustrating trying to do the job sometimes when people are stopping me to ask what's going on. It's not about legality or whether or not they have a right or need to know, sometimes it's just a matter of getting shit done and focusing on setting up for a larger response....like a helicopter landing. Some folks see one person in uniform and think he's really not doing anything important when in reality he's preparing for a much bigger response.
It's not that we don't want to give info to those that need it, sometimes we can't. And sometimes we're so used to "Nosey Nellie" and "Concerned Clark" asking what's going on at their neighbor's house that we just avoid talking to anyone and are a little short when forced. Sorry about that. roy d...and then some other calls are just no one's damn business |
