Going to get an iphone and wondering are you pretty much locked in to the Verizon store for the cost of the iphone or are there any other options?  I've searched the internet but unless it's direct from a trusted source some deals are too good to be true..

Also, it seems most all Verizon plans are the same, no matter who you buy from.  True??

I like Costco but no iphones...

All my friends that got the Verizon iPhone have returned it with in a month and got a Droid. I would think hard about this since I have heard to maneybad tales on the iPhone.

Never had a Verizon iPhone but have had AT&T iPhones since the 3G came out long ago.  Currently using an iPhone 4.

I've never had any of my iPhones drop a call and I travel at least one week each month to Florida, Georgia, and Maryland.  I surf the web on them, get my work e-mails on them, etc. never had an issue.

Don't listen to the nay-sayers.  Make up your own mind.

Iphones (new) only have one price (ok 2, subsidized and not), the one Apple sets.

Likewise I've never seen a change in the price of the plans for them either.

I've had 3 Iphones on ATT, never really had any trouble with the network.

Droid X = cheaper and does everything the iPhone does and some more.  The only downside is it's large size, but even that's not a big problem unless you wear skin-tight pants.

I'd love to see the breakdown of #'s in people who switched from Android phones to the iPhone on Verizon.  I'd be willing to bet the high majority of people who did it, did it because they fall into the "But it's an iPhone, I MUST have it!!!" crowd.  I know of nothing useful that the iPhone does, that a Droid X or similar can't do.

Another way to write that:
I know of nothing useful that the a Droid X or similar does, that  the iPhone can't do.

It sounds like both phones do the same things... but one is built by Apple, and the other isn't.

Is this the 21st century version of the "Ford vs. Chevy" fight?

One man's downside of another man's blessing. Give me a big screen any day.

Same here.  I like it, but I know some people don't like the large screen, which makes for a large phone.

Same here.  I bought the first model when they were $600 and two since.  I've got a neighbor with a Droid always bragging about how much better his phone is than the iPhone but my iPhone outperforms his every time.  Also, he takes his back to the store about once a month with some issue or another.  My current iPhone is almost 2 years old and I haven't had a problem with it yet.  BTW, I'm posting this from an iMac.

OP, you can buy an unlocked iPhone online and take it to your carrier for activation. Maybe search some forums for people selling their used phones. It will probably cost more than buying direct from a carrier, but you won't be locked into a two year agreement to subsidize the cost of the phone,

FWIW, get the iPhone. I've used both. Apple has better hardware/build quality and the OS Isn't buggy like many Android versions.
