LAKEWOOD — In a press conference this morning, the Ocean County prosecutor credited numerous tips from the public with helping authorities track down the suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a Lakewood police officer.

The man, Jahmell Crockam, 19, of Lakewood, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. in a Camden apartment, 70 miles away from the shooting scene, Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said today.

Crockam is accused of shooting Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz, 27, Friday afternoon, after the officer drove up to him and began to question him.
