What looks the best isn't important, its what works the best. My coyote rifle always had an A2 stock on it, but when you are sitting down, usually cold weather gear all camo and hiding out, the A2 was too long. This summer I switched that rifle over to a Magpul MOE stock, it allows the length to be customized for the situation. I went to coyote brown handguard and stock to break up the black rifle look a bit more. The rifle I use for prairie dogs is used in hot weather, plus the long range shooting its used for needs the most rigid stock, so its got an A2 stock. |

well I tried it with both styles stocks today,
my initial plan when I first started buying parts to assemble this rifle called for an A1 stock, (a A2 if I couldn't located an A1 cheap enough), and a fixed power 10x scope for general varmint control etc. but when I was shooting it today, I slapped the mforgery on and I started thinking that instead of the 10x scope, a millett dms 1-4x24 scope might be nice also, in addition to buis of course. but hell just wanting some opinions before I buy a stock for this rifle, I most likely will stick with my original plan and put a 10x on it, and the millett on a varmint carbine that I think will work well with it. |
| For prairie doggin', I would definitely go with the fixed stock and at least a 10x scope. For coyotes, i would go with a collapsable stock but not with that rifle. I am guessing thats a 20" barrel and I would hate to lug that thing around when calling, I use a Remington R-15 with the collapsable stock, it has an 18" barrel, which I can't decide if its perfect or if I like the 16" better. Also collapsable is nice when getting in and out of the truck in a hurry to shoot. I have my scope in a larue and I can comfortably shoot with the stock all the way in to midway out, all the way out isn't ideal but works too for me. I have a 3-9X40 Buckmasters Nikon on my R-15 and usually leave it on 4 to 6 power, unless i have time to adjust it up. I don't know its all personal, but I feel the fixed stock would be better on looks and prairie dogs. |

Quoted: The 10x scope is too high for coyotes and too low for prairie dogs, I've got a 3-9 on my coyote rifle and 6-18 on my prairie dog rifle. I most definitely agree 10x isn't enough for long range prarie dog shooting unless you got some hella good eyes........ |
