was heading home from the girlfriends tonight, literally got onto the road and thought I had a flat. Check the tires after I pull over, looks good...pull back onto the road, then onto RT9. Once onto 9 I hear the noise much more, and theres a "!" light on my dash lit up, but computer says no malfunctions. I pull over on 9 with my 4-ways on, call my girlfriend on the phone to let her know im having a problem, and a Saratoga Sheriff pulls up with lights on behind me...literally 15 or 20 seconds after I pulled over.
Now of course he feels he has to blind me with his damn spotlight, so I turn the rearview mirror away, wait about 10 or 15 seconds...nothing... so I swing open the door figure I would tell him that theres a problem with my car. Nope. "STAY IN THE VEHICLE!!!" he yells at me like he is busting into a fucking crack house...twice. I swing the door closed, sit there. Minute later he walks up, shining a damn flashlight in my face so I cant fucking see him, and tells me "I TOLD YOU STAY IN THE VEHICLE!!!". So I said ok, but he was blinding me with his spotlight...then he says "well yeah thats KINDA THE IDEA". Like fucking thanks retard,. Someone is pulled on the side of the road with 4 ways on who OBVIOUSLY needs help and is trying to get some help.. yet instead the police treat them like they are some suspect they pulled over for erratic driving. If he pulled me over for doing 10 over, yeah I would understand, but I was already voluntarily pulled over. Does he REALLY think someone who is up to no good is going to pull over on a main road with 4 ways on to what...lure a cop...so they can do harm to a LEO? Theres no reason to blind a person who is sitting in their car, pulled on the shoulder, with their hazard lights on, who is literally ASKING for assistance. Little bit annoyed. Anyhow, my "options" given to me ...were either get a tow, or drive home and go slow. I chose #2 as I didnt feel like paying $150 tow fee. I hope I never have my engine overheat and be standing outside the car on the side of the highway. Id probably be told to face away and get on my knees with my fingers behind my head , interlaced. Is it really that difficult to try and be nice. Clifton Park isnt exactly downtown Albany, and my car isnt exactly a thug mobile. Thank goodness we have the overseers to keep up safe. |

Newsflash........there are idiots in every profession. I like to think of it as the 10% rule. In every given group 10% are just idiots.
For arguments sake let's say he didn't realize you were "broken down" and had been following you at a distance. Deputy might have viewed you voluntarily pulling over and putting on your hazzards as a way to lose the tail and thought your actions suspect. Maybe he was having a bad day and had just gotten a ration of shit from his (insert wife, boss etc) here. |

you were doing nothing wrong...ida given him shit back and been like "explain to me why your treating me like a criminal" ida taken his name and badge number and reported the fucker....
but in about 5 min im sure a slew of LEO's are going to post up with the classic "theres always a few bad ones in the bunch" but..these days it seems like the few are growin..and like this state.."your guilty we dont need to prove your innocent" sorry about your luck bud |

When I worked at the airport, almost like clockwork id be pulled over by a townie cop, of either Waterford, or Clifton Park...they would literally light me up from behind, walk up, see my work uniform and say have a good day. Now that I wear jeans and a tshirt I get this shit. Its just annoying. I am all for LE, and fully support them and their job, but encounters like this just dont go over well with people. Leaves a sour taste in their mouth. A bad day isnt a reason to be like that to another person, especially when your a LEO, a person in a position of power. If being in a bad mood effects how you work like that, maybe you should either take time off or look into something else. I agree though, there are bad apples in every bunch. This is one of those cases I think, as again ive had many many encounters with LE and all have been just fine, except this. Unfortunately, it effects how people view the rest who are good. |

Your right. I'm also certain that each and every person reading this probably at some point in their work life hasn't been just a perfect peach to either their co-workers or their customers. If you are perfect I apologize for lumping you into the less than perfect category. What's that line again forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. |

I was nothing but nice to the officer from start to finish, so he has nothing to complain about to others. |

im not perfect by far!!!..but im also not a LEO...IMO it is part of their job to be respectful to civilians, and carry themselves in a manner we would exspect a person in a position of power to act. after all..LEO's are NOT above the law and that does not give them the right to trample "lesser" folk.
i dunno..maybe i just got a bad taste of LEO's in my mouth. I mean..I AM 5 miles from Greece...if youve seen the shit thats been going on with them corrupt bastards..youd prolly be alittle scared of the too! |

Coming from a former cop...
An LEO should be held to a higher standard than the general public because of the very nature of his/her job. As much as we'd just LOVE to smack the taste out of the wiseass punk's mouth (and a civvy would have already stomped his guts out) we can't..... etc etc etc Sorry you got treated that way- no valid excuse I can think of... |

If it bugged me enough to post, I would have asked for his name and sent a nicely worded letter in to his agency/supervisor. Last night I dropped paper on a desk Sgt at a local PD near here, about an interaction I had with one of their officers. The guy who took it would not read it, he gave it to the Sgt. The Sgt read it, came over to me and told me "Thank you, that one of the nicest letters of commendation he'd ever read from the public.". /ml |

Good thing he didn't toss you and find you carrying outside your restrictions. Ya too bad he had no reason to. Too bad there wasnt even a gun in the car. Unsure if we live in the same state. One I'm in they dont typically randomly search people without reason. Also I'm unsure whose side your really on. Seem a bit hell bent on people following stuff to the T, as you can't let the restriction thing go. Why does it bother you so much if people dont follow a corrupt over step by a judge? |
