I've got a question for you guys. It corresponds to anyone in the auto mechanic and hvac fields. I'm looking for your input CAV, as well as anyone else. I've got a virgin 150 lb cylinder of R-12. From what I've read its only legal to sell to someone with an EPA cert. or an auto mechanic....is this true? Based on the answer I'll probably throw the can up on craigslist and only sell to someone that meets this. If anyones interested though you could PM here.
This is not an ad though, I'm really looking for some good info. Thanks guys. |

Funny you mention r-12, i had a car salesman ask about retrofitting his benz to r-12 this week! I told him the cost woukd definately outweight the 2 degrees cooler air he "may* feel. I believe you are correct about selling the r-12, if my memory serves me correctly, the recepient of the r-12 has to be MACS or IMACA certifird. The best place to talk to would be old resto shops. With r-12 hard to get a handle on these days, the price is ridiculous. you could fetch a pretty penny for that tank. Check out 609 of the clean air act amendment of 1990. I can ask around the shop/s to spread the word for ya

Its not up to the seller of the gun/tank to know whether the buyer can have the item...Its up to the buyer to know if they can.....as long as the seller doesn't willingly know the buyer CAN'T have it. Or would I have to check for proper certifications before selling it? For some reason I envision some type of sting operation if I post this for sale on craigslist lol. |

Sell it?
WTF shoot it... Then buy 6 mirrion lounds. I'm thinking you sell it on CL no one will give a shit. Except for the guys in the black EPA van down the street with all the antennas on it.... And declaring a thread off topic in NEHTF...is that really necessary? DIldoS! Tag you're it... |
