Until the amendments to the bill are made and we finally see the finished product....

My prediction.  The main amendment will be to exempt LEOs.  Nothing good for us common folk.

If there was anything good, it would have leaked out. Expect it to be tightened up and "loopholes" closed.

It will probably be worse, with the ambiguous parts made clear with a negative impact on us. LE exemptions as well for magazine capacity. That would be my guess.

The Rat Bastard, Mark Grasinti said they were pushing to get rid of the 7 round magazine horseshit.  I heard it right out of his gob on Wednesday    night

On anything? Or just on the parts that would be relevant to non LEO's?

Im pretty sure that I already know the answer

The people that own the gun shop I associate with spoke with their contacts at both the NYSP and Sheriffs Office; they haven't the man power or inclination to run background checks on people all day long. It was suggested they may issue some sort of "I.D." card like they used to do to cover the NICS checks (PP within the last five years meant no NICS needed) still, who the hell's going to do that?
How many people a day buy ammo from the big stores like Wal-Mart, Dick's, GM, etc?
It's a cluster fuck now to go the Sheriffs Office to get your PP amended as there are dozens of people there to see prisoners, the NYSP barracks are the size of a very small house (in fact that's what it was before they moved in) I guessing the rocket scientists in Albany figured the dealers could use the NICS system, but being regulated by Congress they clearly said no fucking way that's happening, and as it stands now they can't process the requests they're getting in a timely fashion.

I'm almost waiting with baited breath to see how much more they can fuck up the Laws; you think people are upset now?

Hopefully the courts strike this all of this nonsense down but in the unfortunate event that they don't, this will probably go the way of registration like in Canada... too expensive, too burdensome and nobody complies... so scrap it.

The NICS system isn't even set up to process non-firearm checks.

They are going to wait the full 30 days aren't they?

Wouldn't want to rush something through up in Albany!

20 minutes to vote on it then 43,200 minutes (30 days) to actually look at it. Genius!!

Just another cluster fuck... no one wants to do it, no le agency is going to care.  All we are succeeding in doing is wasting limited tax payer money, damaging small businesses and harassing gun owners.  How they think this will make the public safer is ridiculous.  The whole law is destined to be a farce but for the fact that one never knows when  a house fire, burger alarm, domestic complaint, or a vindictive neighbor will result in the exposure of "illegal assault weapons"  and an otherwise lawful citizen turned into a felon.

The state is placing two sgts under PP and hiring over 50 clerks even then things will be tight. The powers that be aren't thrilled with this, well except a couple.

So what happens  after 30 days?  Are the amendments just tacked on to the Safe Act? Or is each amendment voted on? Do the senate and ass vote the whole safe act again?  Can some legal eagle clear this up for me / us ?  I'm not too sure of the legislative process.  (Hey, I'm a qualified assemblyman! )

Ken, please keep in mind this isn't an attack on you, your position, or employer.

I don't know how far behind the PP section is, however last clue I had was they are back logged three years.
Who's going to pay those fifty Clerks?
50(50K year) + retirement + health/Obama care + ???  You're at 2.5 million a year for the Clerks How long before the announcement "the cost to the tax payers is too great and unfair to the non gun owners as they don't have guns to be registered, so effective immediately we will impose a $XX.xx fee per firearm registered or ammunition background check conducted."  Tell me that'll never happen and the we'll call "bullshit"

As I understand it they raided 36 million from the conservation budget to pay for this

Bingo, that's why the "don't hunt this year" move won't mean a thing to Cuomo, he doesn't care and would be fine if there were no more hunting in NYS.

We don't have enough money to accomplish our core duties, but since Uncle Sam can print money, Albany takes the bait and bows to federal programs, rules and whims. In reality, we don't have any sovereign control over the resources of the state.

Oh, now I get it.  This is all your fault!  Because of the loss of revenue from your decision not to voluntarily hand over oney on a yearly basis, they needed to raise funds.  The only way to do this without rasing taxes was to increse fees.  Hmmmm. The put in place a scheme to register all gun owners, then later when they know who those pesky gun owners are, they can impose incredible fees on them.  Win win, increse revenue and nobody (who's o the .gov dole) will care if there is a fee to own a 'legal' gun as all their guns are illegal and unregistered anyway.  Should this scheme misfire, they can always add an amendment exempting any gun owner receiving "benefits" from paying the fee.

Wow, Ballsy move accusing Aimless for this whole thing.

Please realise I am only trying to keep a sense of humor in the face of a grim situation.
