ok got a quick question for you about mounts for optics.

i have a millett I need to mount.  while i would love to just go out and buy one of those super cool looking larue mounts with the quick release levers but there is no way I could afford on.

so my question is, is there REALLY that big of a difference in the stability of those mounts? assuming I dont want to take the mount on/off constantly what is the real is advantage of such an expensive mount?  are there less expensive ones out there at a better price?

is there that big of a difference from a larue to a $40 or so 1 piece mount?

if you have experience with both please let me know i would really be interested in hearing your opinion.  Or if you have another mount that is solid and holds zero please suggest those too!

Get a good set of high or super high rings if it's a permanent thing.

Just get yourself a set of Warne rings and you will be good to go.  I have never had them fail me.  No sense buying a $200 mount for an average scope if don't need QD.  The Warne rings will never move on you and will be rock solid for an affordable price.

If your going to remove the scope, you must re zero and start over, this is a fact. The exception is a LaRue mount. I tried the others (sadly).

i would like to get a 1 piece mount.

M4: so you are telling me there are no other scope mounts that will hold a zero?

Rings and a torque wrench are quite repeatable and while I love LaRue mounts, I also have an AD Recon mount that I have no problems with removing and installing - not that there really is a need to do so on a frequent basis.

If you're not going to swap out, just get some rings and make sure you locktite everything well.

I swap out a 3-9 and an M2 frequently, so I use LaRue QD mounts (the old style ones) I bought years before the fanboy club started here.

ETA Armalite makes a one-piece. I've never used it though.

Why not buy a new LaRue VFZ mount?

$50 off of the full size ones.

Or is that still not enough of a change for you?

I haven't even seen the price for those yet.

Everytime you take a lever off....you take off $25.

So like  LT-104 is usually like 2 bills. VFZ is one and a half.

If it's still not cheap enough then I guess they failed that target market capture..........hehe.....

You're not going to find a Larue quality mount that returns to zero without paying a Larue price.

If you want a one piece mount there are plenty of options, but don't expect the machining or return to zero of the more expensive ones.

Even my Eotech with a quick release always has to be zero'd once I take it off for whatever reason.
Some say they go back to where they were (zero) but,
I tend to dissagree.
