Do they have a brick & mortar storefront to pick these up without paying a transfer fee? That would be a homerun. I've been after a buddy of mine to get a lower so we can build him his first AR.

I've been to one that charged $45 Around Rochester? Yup, I will IM the info when I get home tonight on the pc. Not a fan of outing how people run a business in public. Too bad. LRB is having their $79.95 sale again. Too far to drive IMHO. Also, anyone have experience with LRB lowers? |
|
I forgot to add earlier that LRB's lowers are made by JV Precision Machine in Seymour, CT: http://www.jvprecision.net/ The quality is excellent and they also manufacture for at least one other AR-15 lower vendor. |
| The FFL I use is 15 per transfer. Its a 40 minute drive but its worth it. Cheapest place local is double that and they won't take non FFL shipments. Just picked up three Aero Precision Lowers from him this morning on the way up to the SYR gun show. After shipping and transfer it was 86 a piece. |

The place I used to get transfers from (until they raised the price) charges 75$, and they want it before they fax their info. Said that to many people had them send info and no firearms would show up.
That's not cool to do but seriously, $75?? I will drive across Rochester to save the $40. ETA guess it is a good way for you to just buy the firearm through them. |

B&J Guns hit me with a $50 transfer fee as well on an $80 lower. I was like "It's just a lower, why is the fee so high?" and they said it was the same amount of paper work for a lower as any other gun. HAHAHAHA, the same amount of "paperwork"??? Its literally a single line in their disposition book. The 4473 is hardly "paperwork", and the customer fills most all of it out anyhow! Thats ridiculous. Zacks charged me like $30 for a transfer...then tax for the lower transfer.
came to $34 and change. this was like 3 years ago. I now go to another place, and pay $10 to 20. |

They need to make money somehow. |

You want to talk about outrageous, before I knew any better I got charged 100 dollars to do a transfer by someone I was an acquaintance with. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor. Then I had to track him down to get my gun from him as he didn't really care about getting it to me any time soon. I swear he shot it too. |
