Does anyone live in or close to pendleton? I have a job interview with the corrections institution located their and may possibly relocate to that area. I have lived on the southern oregon coast my whole life and have never been to the area. Any info anyone has would be appreciated I'm looking for the good and the bad 
I like hiking and outdoors activities and most importantly are any gunshops/ places to shoot 800+ yards. |

Good: gun friendly, good restaurants, little rain compared to the coast. More good: Housing costs less than the Willamette Valley or Coast and one can live fairly well on a correction officer's pay. Even more good: little to no congestion on the freeway.
Bad: It is desert so it does get hot; fire season means the grass land is a tinder box There are a few gun shops in and around Pendleton, plenty of places to hike and fish and take photos of wildlife (elk, big horn sheep, antelope, deer, birds). As to shooting there are plenty of places where you can shoot. |
