the ford dealers in this area area all hurting very badly, very little work for the service depts and not enough car sales. a friend of mine last day at swainesboro ford was today, he can't pay his bills anymore. to all the "economies great" i haven't seen it. i did call the dublin store, not looking to hire technicians due to no work load. this area is dead, the ford store in ricon closed and a gmc store up the road closed a couple of weeks ago here in vidalia. i'm hoping that something break free soon

The Ford in Hiram did my Cobra engine replacement a few years ago (third engine!) Number 2 blew right before I deployed, and it was fixed while I was gone. After 14 months, I got home, and I have to say I was not impressed with the work. Not even a little bit. They told me the warranty on the work was over, and basically I had to deal with it or pay.  Not cool. When I say it was poor quality work, I mean it. I am a 15 year Helicopter Mech and I have to say it is the worst work I have seen.
Team Ford in Marietta has a good shop and do Alot of mustangs, but they put in bad engine #2. it failed in less than 1k miles. Their work was  better, but  the part sucked and was not even the correct replacement engine. I would pick them over Hiram Ford if I was looking to work at one or the other. Get into the Guard, and get a full time job as a tech for the Army.  Pay and benefits are awsome.

I wouldn't sweat it, Saxby and Johnny are on the job and they say we are not in a recession  After all the top 5% of income earners are still making money.....

good luck, my Brother in Law works for a ford dealer in Atlanta and they are all dried up too.  The hundred dollar tanks of gas have finally come to roost.

Sorry Dublin didn't work out for you.

I knew it driving distance from your location and though it was worth a try.

thanks guys for all the input, the 2 jobs i had were minor. the biggest problem is that the community has gotten to distrust us, in a small town people don't like change and we constantly change employees and dislike our SM. our service manager has brought in his golden boy and any work that does come in goes to him. this guy has less than half the experience me and the other techs have, but best we can figure it is that his oral skills are incredible. with a work slow down and shop politics, this is starting to looking really bad. to the guy that posted about the national guard i think i'm to old, i'll be 37 this december. anyways guys i do appreciate all input, the economy is just in a real pinch and the service industries are aways first to feel it and last to recover, after 19 years with ford, i have learned that well

I had a similar experience with a Grand Cherokee.  I haven't been thre in several years now and so, they may have changed since.  I had nothing good to say about them then, they'd lie when the truth sounded better.

I used to work at a Cadillac dealership. One of my friends that was a mechanic there was a Ford guy. I asked him why he worked on GM's if he was a Ford guy. He said there wasn't enough work at the Ford dealer, but the GM's were always in for repairs.

Just a thought..
