is a post ban upper also jersey legal ? a friend of mine lives in nj. and he needs an upper, whats the diff between pre and post rifles ? post ban uppers have no bayonet lug, no flash hiders. If it has a muzzle device, its probably compensator and they have to be perm fixed on the muzzle and cant have open threads. They are usually pinned in place. Post ban rifles include all of the above + NO folding or retractable stocks. If you buy one for your rifle you have to fix it in place but it doesnt need to be perm, just as long as you cant enable the feature to fold it or retract it. Pre ban basically has no restrictions period but there is pre ban anything in NJ is illegal. However you CAN buy a preban UPPER not a preban complete rifle. All you gotta do for the upper BEFORE you put it on your lower is make sure you make it into a post ban config. So if your friend buys an upper with a flash hider that can be taken off, replace it with a comp and have it pinned. Also shave off the bayo lug or replace the front sight period and get a gas block with a folding sight. Doesnt matter how you customize it as long as its in post ban config. |
