I've got a trip at the end of this month w/ some friends for a 2 night hike/camp excursion.  Trying to find a destination for the trip.  Does anyone have suggestions for me?  I would like to get pretty deep in the woods, water would be nice, long range views +1, gotta have a fire and the ability to bring a side arm.

Pretty much anywhere in the Chattahoochie National Forrest (assuming you have a CCW) should work. I would recommend the Cohutta Wildserness area outside of Chatsworth or Great Smokey Mountains Park in N.C.

The AT is hit/miss on waterm but I've heard the Bartram Trail is ok with water.

Just keep in mind deer season for normal firearms (non-primitive-weapons) opens on the 20th of this month. Might do to bring some blaze orange out if you're gonna be on a WMA.

Check out the Benton McKay trail too.

Make sure you wear your blaze orange no matter where you go!!!

Amicalola Falls for drive-up or near Helen for hike-in.  If you take the main road thru Amicalola up past the top of the falls, it turns to gravel at the park exit sign-  lots of good campsites just outside the park for free.
