ok I have a question, I saw this photo in another post in th HTF and I have a question.

I have an SBR with the front site post like the one posted.  I want to get a rail that extends past the end of the barrel so when I put the can on there it is INSIDE of the rail.

I haven't been able to figure out how to do this b/c of the front site post.  my only other rail that I have screws on so it would have to rotate over the FSP.

this has to be two piece design, but then how does it stay free float?

some of these rails lock down to the barrel nut, the Midwest Industries rail i installed for a friend was a two peice like the picture above. i simply took a dremel and cut off the d-ring and installed the 2 peice rail set. it was very easy and looked like a million bucks. i hope that helps

The DD Omega Rail clamps down on the barrel nut. It takes a special barrel nut, not the one that comes with the Delta ring. But, it locks down tight and is built like a brick shithouse. A sexy, brick, shithouse.

ETA: for what you're wanting to do, I would also look at the DD AR15 Lite Rail 12.0 FSP

I built one like that for a 9mm. What you may find is the can O.D. may be larger than the I.D. of the rail. I had a Gemtech Raptor and Troy rail - ended up removing 1.3mm inside the rail since the can was round and the rail was oval.
I used a 8.5" barrel and a 10" rail.
Have not tried it yet on a 5.56 since most manufacturers inside on at least a 10.5" barrel which means you need a 12" or longer  rail.

I have a 10.5" 9mm Barrel and the can is a SWR trident-9

I think I need a shorter barrel.  seems like it would get heavy with that much rail.
