“I am not pleased that my 12-year-old was taught the Islamic conversion prayer,” parent Brandee Porterfield told me. |

If you really want to see how screwed up things are, go down to the public library and ask to see the local school curriculum. They tend to have such things on the shelf, somewhere (Davidson county does).
They use some acronyms/shorthand that may make it a bit confusing to read. One of the more common ones that I learned from the ex-wife, is TLW (The Learner Will). Once you get their system interpreted to normal English, you'll be amazed at the garbage they are pushing. One that stood out to me, was the statement that TLW (the student will) learn that their rights are determined by laws passed by the local, state, and federal governments (not the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, or Court rulings). Liberals have been running the public education system, for decades. Twenty years ago, the ex-wife told me she was dropping out of her chapter of the National Education Association, after learning that it was just a political organization. |

WTF. This country's silent majority needs to step up and cleanse the progressives from the positions of authority over our children, along with other positions. It'll never happen, not in a single generation anyways. Too entrenched. Only option is private or home school, things which most good people just can't afford. |

I hate the idea of public school but can't afford to put 2 through private school. |

The best you can do then is to be an excellent role model for your kids and have your own teaching time with them when you can. Be on top of their work and know what they're doing, but also be there to teach them new things. Being on top of things is easier said than done. Last year a city cop came to my kids school to teach them about gun safety. One of the questions the officer asked was "ok, so who here has a gun in their home." Then asked each kid how many. I didn't know until a few days later when my kid just said it out of the blue. There was a paper that came home and it told parents we were responsible for teaching our kids about guns, which was good, but getting the kids to rat on their parents I thought was poor form. |

Yeah that's pretty sneaky right there! And good advice.. I'm fortunate as my wife is in the school system. She is "ahead of the curve" if you will, on the ups and downs of public school. In our area (NW TN) the schools are nice for the most part. But, what concernes me is as my kids get older, things will change dramatically, especially at the rate things are changing now. It's a shame that 90% of the parents I talk with about this, wish their kids could be home/private schooled. One of the downfalls I do see to that is athletics. I grew up in sports and hope my boys do too. Home/private schools here are slacking in that department. OH, and if I heard that my children made a pledge stating "there is no God other than Allah". They would be out of that school ASAP and a nice long talk with the board would be held over that! |
