Thinking of getting the Lee breech lock challenger press kit. Its either that or the anniversary set.
Id like to know what you guys think. DMgangl |
| Not sure how much you are willing to spend...but everyone here and on the hide recommended THIS to me when I asked about a starter kit. |

I will be the minority with this but I purchased a used Dillon from a hometown forum member. It is a lot easier to use then I thought it would be.... they used to be on the EE every couple of days at really good deals. I have never used a single stage but I sure have cranked out a lot of ammo with the Dillon in a matter of hours. I would recommend picking one up if you could find one affordable.

I started with the Lee anniversary press also. I loaded 4-5K 308 loads on it before I retired it. Lee stuff works with no frills, but certainly not built for the long haul....like RCBS, Dillon, hornady, ect... I broke several sets of arms on the little lee press. I still have it and use it to carry to the range for load testing.
If you have the money get the RCBS rock chucker kit or the Hornady kit. I now use the hornady LNL and Dillon 550B. |

Looks interesting in there catalog. YES I use Lee stuff.
I think the breechlock setup is OK for small batches, and with the breechlock setup I can see a nice quick die swap with out the need to screw the die in/out and verify the proper setting every time. I got my Challenger single stage off of Egay a few years ago and granted I broke a few pieces learning the press but customer service has been top notch and replaced parts with no questions asked. Some people like the Blue, Green, Orange and Red stuff. But the choice is yours. Buzz. |
