The American Rifleman mag lists competitions in Oak Ridge, seems like I recall Chattanooga listed once in a while too???? As for equipment, be prepared to spend some $$$$ if you're gonna run with the big dogs. Anshutz, Wlather, etc. seem to dominate the equipment brands & some of these goodies can run in excess of $3k per piece. What would be a good option is IF they have a "production class" ala` IPSC. There, a S&W Model 41 would probably get you by in the handgun class, as well as some of the lessor costly before mentioned Walther's & Anshutz's. I have shot some VERY informal .22 rimfire matches here in Nashville, against what was 99% Fudds. I did VERY well. ![]() My equipment is a S&W Model 41 in handgun & a Marlin Model 2000 Biathlon Rifle (which is no longer made A copy of Gun Digest (formerly Gun List) gun newspaper should give you an idea of what sort of cost range is to be expected. Some of the web sites to hit are Sinclair Inlt. & Champion's Choice. Below are some web sites for you. Good luck! ![]() www.champchoice.com www.sinclairintl.com www.waltheramerica.com |

sorry i've been slow to respond to this. the only game in chattanooga is the chattanooga rifle club as far as competitions go (that i know of at least). they shoot bullseye pistol and idpa there. here's the link: Chattanooga Rifle Club Bullseye Pistol it's a good club- i'm a member there, but have not shot one of these competitions. hope that helps some. it's an awesome place to shoot and one helluva deal to be a member there fwiw- there should be some openings at the end of june, applications available at the ammo dump on 58. |
