I heard on talk radio this AM that in STL 2 bruthas robbed a vending machine truck driver with what appeared to be an assault rifle.  I wonder what the Post will have to say about that.

Yes.  Yes it does.  Now go stand in the corner and think about what you said for a while.

I'll hope that's sarcasm.  One is a decent gun, the other is trash.

(I'll add that a MAC isn't the pinacale of guns or anything.  I suppose I would accept a free one, but I wouldn't go out and buy one.  But, it's leaps and bounds better than a Tec...)

Caught a glimpse of the robber on tape trying to hide a weapon, with what looked like a 30rd curved magazine, under a long coat.  Maybe a semi-auto AK47 type, maybe an SKS with 30rd mag....

I never understood why people bash the Tec-9 series of weapons. Every one I owned or shot; ran like a sewing machine.

The TEC-9 was originally designed by Swedish company Interdynamic AB of Stockholm as the MP-9, intended as a cheap submachine gun based on the Carl Gustaf M/45 for military applications.

A friend of mine had one for a little while.  He doesn't post here, but a bunch of you know him.  I was with him the first time he took it to the range, and it wouldn't fire more than 4-5 rounds before jamming.  We thought it might've been bad mag(s) (he only had one or two) so he bought another new one to try.  It didn't run any better with the new mag so he sold it.  That's been my only experience with Tec-9s so I admit that my experience is limited, but I wasn't impressed.

Here is a "technical" vid that sheds some light on the Tech-9. I'm told that there is some poor trigger discipline but I really didn't notice

I remember the first one I owned. It was the shorty without a barrel shroud that I bought at a gun show. I loaded it up and took it out to the sand pit across from the FN machine gun plant in Columbia, SC. This is where everyone in the area use to go shoot at the time (middle to late 1980's). Someone had dumped an old TV and people were using it as a target. I blasted off 36 rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger. I stuck in a fresh magazine and handed it to my (now ex) wife. She popped off a couple of rounds and handed it back to me. She said the "Sights on it sucked!". I remember looking back at her with a dumb look and saying "Sights? It has sights?"

I believe that there are two types of factory magazines and they hold 20 and 36 rounds. The magazine is the heart of an auto loader. There are many types of aftermarket magazines and none of then work. I bought a mail order 50 round USA magazine for my TEC-9. It would not fit it the mag well. I thought  that maybe it needed to be loaded to fit. I think I got about ten rounds in it before it turned into a ammo fountain. I think I still have that thing somewhere.

With the factory magazines and good quality ammo, the TEC-9's are bullet hoses. Do not tell my ex-wife this but she is right. The sights on it suck. I might have a rail installed on one of mine and add a red dot scope.

The rifle was either an AK or SKS; it's shown in one of the surveillance tapes.

Did you ever wonder who's watching you, and what they've seen?

Mine looks like the one on the top...its stamped M-11 and has a detachable barrel extention with shroud.
