Ok i've got a 870 marine magnum....... on several ocasions while shooting "cheap" low brass shells of diffrent variety's i've noticed it's like the shells stick after being fired causing it to be a bitch to rack the slide..... I also had a Franchi SAS12- that did the same thing a few years ago..... link to a page with a picture of one on it cause people always think I'm crazy..... i've only seen 2 myself the wierd thing is i can take the same cheap ammo and it runs fine in my Beretta 2 3/4-3 auto..... or an 2 3/4 1100..... Any ideas .... on wtf causes this.... If i use high brass or 3" shells i cant ever remember it hapening in either gun... |

well like I've heard said many times on this board, don't try and run diesel through your vette no man, I got the same problems with my 870 express and winny super X when I use any federal shotshells, it doesn't happen often, but enough it pisses me off, plus the federals smoke like mad and leave unburnt powder down the tube, every other brand I've used in them works fine in them, including the S&B 00 and 4 buck, and that shit smokes like a wornout engine and is worse than wolf in the dirty dept, funny thing is my cheap assed winny 1200 will function fine with any brand or type of shotshells I ever put through it, even the shit that the brass was green and had crusty crud growing on it. |

yeah I gave up on the hi brass #4 federal shotshells about 8 years ago, we were out in the woods for a few rainy october days and nights, kept the shells as dry as possible, but nearly everytime I fired them, I had a jam with the super X, ended up borrowing a box of hi brass remingtons off a dude and didn't have any more problems, so I just figured it was the federals, hadn't bought any federal shot shells for hunting since that time, its all remington or winny for hunting shells, I did buy some 100 packs of federals #8s for blasting ammo several months back when walmart was clearing them out, their smokey as usual. |
