you can ship it direct to bubba intrastate, however, it makes it harder to get a proof of sale for when Bubba shoots Betty Sue with the shotgun

why do you need proof you sold it to bubba?

Gun found at crime scene.
Cops call Manufacturer then distributor, then ffl  then you.
They say a gun you purchased was found at a crime scene.
You say I sold that gun a while back at a gun show.  No I don’t remember when, where or what the guy looked like.
Cops want an alibi,
So you tell them the truth and they go away.

I think I have seen this question on here about 100 times.

Texas is a free state, some of you people keep mistaking it for IL or MA.  If you want to buy or sell a firearm, go ahead and do it.  You don't need the .gov permission to do it (yet).  Afterall, it is just another tool.

(B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?[Back]

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

Its a good idea to have one, here's my alibi, heres who I sold it to, his DL #, when I sold and here is my lawyer's number if you have any more questions. You say you dont remember anything about the guy you sold it to, they are gonna look at you real hard

Why?  I am not required to keep any receipts, I have no criminal record and no other connection to the crime.  Now if my MIL was killed with the gun, I might need an alabi.
