Okay so ive read the NYS AWB over and over and understand no barrel threads, but during my bulgy ak-74 build I encountered the 24mm threaded front sight base. The threads are one unit with the front sight base that is pinned to the barrel, which means the barrel itself is not threaded implying that if you took the law word for word I could leave the muzzle brake un-attached. But would the state see this differently? Would they assume that since the FSB is pinned to the barrel that its part of the barrel? here is a link to a pic of the unitized FSB http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/variant/FSB_B_all.jpg

for all intents and purposes its a threaded barrel

i know, gray area...ive thought of this small inconsistancy in the past myself, its tempting....especially being AK74 brakes that are perm affixed are a bitch to clean corrosive crap out of.

my thoughts exactly just wanted to know if this situation has ever played out. Better to air on the side of caution than deal with that BS.
