or... what round for fishing?
Seeing how we can do so, and I can understand why the need.. I've done fishing from the beach, but I think I'm ready to venture off to some local "fresh" waters to do some fishing, from the shore or piers. what do you carry and/or recommend while doing so? This will be a 'new' adventure.. coming from CO, where, depending on where you go, you're the top predator in the outdoors... not sharing it like we do here in FL any other tips would be appreciated, if you have 'em. eta: Brevard County |

I fish with my 10mm on my hip. Gators are mean, water moccasins are assholes.

Same as I carry every day- Kahr K9, but occasionally, when the snakes seem to be a bit more active, I'll bring my J-frame Smith with snake loads in it. Don't want any asshole moccasins getting in my Gheenoe- there ain't enough room.
ETA- Brevard County as well. |

A 1oz pyramid sinker to bounce off some asshole's boat when he does dumb shit and tells you to fuck off.
I normally have a .38 or G43 in my vest pocket otherwise when kayaking. I'm normally on the intercostal or slightly in. Haven't seen gators, although a possibility. Haven't been fresh water and don't really care to with the snake and gator threat. |

G26 with quality HP load.
These days there is more if a significant threat from humans than a moccasin or gator....although the snakes and gators are plentiful. Then again,,,,depends much on where you are at on the human threat. |

Don't let saltwater lull you into a false sense of security. Dang, hope not to see one! I was in SE Va. for a while and recall being chased by a WM in the intercostal there, water skiing, there are aggressive. I was paddling in the grass flats one time, 1-3' of water and thought it would be a great spot to get out for a bit to fish-then a 7-8'shark zipped by--nah! |

Whatever poly framed/stainless slide and barrel easy to clean pistol convenient to grab. Odds are you won't need it and all the extra power probably won't make much of a difference if needed.

S&W model 63, .22 LR has been with me on a lot of trips.

I’ve carried a S&W model 60 for many years…since early 1980’s. It’s usually carried in a Roy Baker pancake holster on my strong side.
When fishing in freshwater I usually load first 2 cylinders with CCI shotshell followed by 3 rounds of 158gr SWC. When fishing saltwater I just load 5 rounds of 158gr SWC. |
