Good grief, its been busy! An apology for being late to the party. A nice LaRue package arrived at the house last week? the week before? I cant remember, but I finally had time to open it. I really don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. This was an awesome gift, and will be displayed proudly. I am thankful to be fortunate enough to be a customer of LaRue Tactical.

 Took my new match grade barrel out and did a brief barrel break in. I never saw a lot of copper, so after about 5 rounds I shot a group. I'm not much of a bench shooter and the facilities at this range were barely adequate. The rifle just barely sits on the bench front to rear. I think it can do much better, but this is a nice start |
After playing with different rounds - hunting and target; and playing around with the PRS stock I put on the rifle...... I'm happy with my results - I have done better on other outings (5 shot 0.7") but I wasn't consistent - groups were good but shifted around - today everything ran high - like it's supposed to. I know I'm getting better with my setup as even the hunting round groups have come down. Current round count total: 111 
Current outing count: 3
So far, Razorback XT's are awful >3", but I can hold 1.5"/5 shot groups with Federal Vital Shock 165gr Game Kings, Nosler 165gr Accubonds and Federal Fusion 165gr. 20" OBR 7.62, PRS stock with mono-pod and GG&G Bipod, Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 scope. Looks like I might go another 0.5" up and come back 0.5" left after the next outing if the POI stays. I want to be able to hit out to 300 yards, so I'll get it locked ~1.5" high and centered L-R at 100yds - then I can hit the 300yd range. |

Contrary to Soonerman's statements  , these are home brewed from LC LR brass, Varget, 175gr Sierra matchking, and federal GM210 primers. I'd be happy to tell you more via IM if you need more info.

My tOBR 556 came in Monday. After UPS missing my FFL's drop off hours since thurs. (Made for a long weekend) After getting my test target, I thought I'd have a bit of a chance to do this challenge. New rifle, new scope, no pressure. 
After zeroing the scope, first run of match ammo through it resulted in this.
Ammo was PPU 75gr match. 
First time using a MOA software, hopefully I got it right. (If someone is more skilled with this, I can post another shot)

Was finally able to get out to the range to get my entry in....which I shot with 175 FGMM to be fair...had a day when my old eyes were working pretty good and just managed to nip the "Shootist"
and yes...thats painters tape...3 guesses what I was doin all this week... 
Also thought I would share one of my Ptars favorite recipes to date and some of her earlier results...these two were shot last fall... XBR8208 & Barnes 175gr TSX...she shoots Varget and 4064 pretty well too...and prefers 175gr over 168grs.

I was out shooting my Ptar yesterday and to say it shoots great is an understatement!
These are about half the targets that I shot and they were all basically like these: all were sub. 1 moa and one sub. 0.5 moa. I just finally had to pick some to post. I threw in one composite and a few measured individuals. This rifle is boringly (in a good way) consistent. There is so much more in the rifle that I didn't do it justice. I was fighting swirling winds and my goofy-ass multi-focal contacts. Plus the NF 2.5-10x32 is a great scope, but it is certainly not a bench-rest scope. The Ptar typically has a Leupold VX-R 1.25-4 Patrol mounted for close to mid-range coyote/trespasser duty and the only scope I had that wasn't allocated to another rifle was the NF 2.5-10. After I got done with the bench stuff I reinstalled the VX-R Patrol, loaded up some XM193 and did a few standing off-handed full mag dumps on steel at 100 yards. It was almost like being on auto-pilot, press - ding, press - ding, press - ding, press - ding... As we get more acquainted it just keeps getting better and better. I've really got it bad for a 7.62 Ptar now.

OBR Heavy 16" Nightforce 5.5-22 X 50 Federal GMM 168 gr 100 yards 0.76 - 0.308 = 0.452 I guess that beats the shootist at 0.882! Not bad for a four-and-a-half year old rifle with thousands of rounds through it.
And by the way, 5-round shot groups trump 3.
