Bushmaster .308 ORC. Doesn't matter what ammo if it does it with no ammo in it. I used Hornady 168 Amax factory ammo though. It is only on one of my 308 PMAGs
What rifle? What ammo? Is it on all your PMAG LR's? its only on one of your 308 Pmags...........ditch the mag or send it to magpul for a replacment. Problem solved

Whenever someone types his name three times on a forum, spaced properly with commas, his beard alerts him to the message. To Mr. Costa or Mr. Beard, this guy is unhappy. He says you aren't standing behind your product. Please send Dr. Drake. |

Any progress on this? The reason I ask as I don't think this is a non-issue and I don't see why this thread isn't getting more traffic/official comment. First my setup:
Larue OBR SSA 175 SMK and some more generic 150 grain BVAC 4 308 Pmags (purchased from Larue along with the rifle package). My observations after I spent 4 hours at the range ringing out my new Vortex scope that had been backordered for 5 months: I noticed throughout multiple (5-6 times) "short stroking" where the bolt would be halfway forward on top of a round not stripped fully out of the mag. Problems where across three of the mags. The fourth was not run. The factory Larue mags have not shown any of the same issues. The second bit that I experienced which led me to my current conclusion which I will get to below is two cases where the bolt hold open was not engaged/weakly engaged and removing the empty magazine caused the bolt to drop. The second time this occurred I could clearly see the follower tilted down in the front and stuck in a depressed position. I then checked all four mags and could easily recreate the stuck follower every time by pushing down the front of the follower. The tilt was not extreme and I don’t have them in front of me so I can try and measure it later but maybe 5-10 degrees. This surprised me with Magpul known for their anti-tilt followers. I am not trying to start a bunch of conjecture but it sure seemed like this was the cause of slowing the follower enough to cause what looked like short stroking and certainly the cause of my empty mag bolt hold open problem. Are these four I got a complete oddity? Anybody else notice how easy it is to get the follower to stick? Do they not stick/Is it not a concern? I would have thought this is exactly what a anti-tilt follower is supposed to avoid. Are they running beautifully for everyone but us two? |

That said I will let Justin know and we will swap them out and have a look at your mags as well. We also will need to know what ammo you were using. |

Yes, we will get replacements out to try. You said an email was inbound but I do not see it. Please email your details again to [email protected] (number of mags, shipping address, ammo used, etc.), or call us M-F 9-5 MST, and we'll get you taken care of.

I've got two automated email responses from using that exact email address. I gave the problem and my contact info is my email address. The type of ammo is NONE if it won't lock open the bolt without ammo in it. I just believe the spring is weak. I just sent a third email as you requested. |

Stop being a dick and acting like you know what the fuck you are talking about. Ammo can affect the rate in which the gun cycles and whether or not the follower engages correctly. The fact that the mag malfunctions while empty does not alleviate ammo out of the equation if any ammo has ever been fired using that mag, maybe the ammo was too potent and caused the bolt to cyle with more force and broke the mag? Maybe you used some overcharged handloads and that is why you are bing an asshat about listing the ammo used? How the fuck do you expect Magpul to diagnose/repeat your issue if you are not up front with them? |

got my new mag. keeps the bolt open fine. sent the old one back with the mailing label provided. OUTSTANDING SERVICE! I guess jumping in on your thread I will have to wait for Justin to wade through all his email before I hear from them. I hope it is a unique issue. It is going to be pricey if I have to stock up on $70 Larue mags. |
