I have a Colt LE 6940 that is in original contidion.
I need to turn it into a MK 18ish upper. I would like to get the barrel shortened to 10.3 inches, gas port modified to MK 18 spec, Bayonet lug removed, and have the KAC hider (I will include this) installed with shims. It would require disassembly and reassembly at ADCO since I don't have the wrench. This would be an LE Duty weapon...so any issues with reliability or accuracy in this configuration? Can you do these mods and how much? Thanks! |

Yes, we can do the work. Any barrel that short will not be of the highest reliability. We will adjust the gas port to make it as reliable as possible. Personally, for actual duty use, i would go with a 14.5" CAR and leave it at that.
That said, it will not change accuracy at all. It WILL change terminal range, but should be just fine out to 200yards or so. 14.5" is good to 300yards plus. |

Small hijack:
Is any gas port work necessary for a 14.5 cut and perma-attach job on a 6940? I hear that Colt made gas ports small on the 16" carbine system so I was wondering if you typically open them up or leave them as is. And on the issue of perma-attach, is there a practical reason to send you a FSC556b? Or is the FSC556 I already have ok? |

We check the port size at cutting, if adjustment is required, it is included in the Threading price. We have noted that most Colts DO NOT need a port size adjustment going from 16" to 14.5" though. Your FSC556 will be fine. |

Your FSC556 will be fine. I actually have a KAC556. Can that be pinned and still run a KAS QDSS-NT4? Obviously disregarding warranty issues, which I wouldn't hold you accountable for. PWS OAL is 1.85. Does this get me to a 14.5 or 14.6? would that make much functional difference? And I've been trying to find out if any one knows performance difference between the FSC556 and the KAC556... Sorry to bombard you I just want to get the right thing on there because replacement barrels look like they would cost me $972 by my best estimate

Sorry, i missed this.
Ok, the KAC556 will add about 1.25" (due to having to be threaded on) to the barrel, so it would have to be cut to approx 14.75" (these are estimates, because when you order, note 16" OAL). Yes, will will still work with the KAC Can after pinning. Edit: No functional difference at all. |
