My understanding is that Hornady was pretty much the only main ammo manufacturer that was making new 7.7 Jap.  They discontinued it along with a lot of their other unique chambers to focus on high demand calibers.  I don't believe there was ever a large source of surplus ammo.  

There are a couple of other no name manufactures out there but I haven't seen any of their ammo in stock for a long time either.

I think our best chance is either Prvi Partizan pick it up or Hornady resumes if the current political climate changes.

An interesting side note.. the Hornady ammo uses Privi Partizan brass so it's a little odd to me that Privi doesn't have their own line.  One of my concerns is that Privi has stopped making this brass since Hornady stopped and that there is a finite supply of it on the market.  

I guess if there was ever an excuse to get into reloading.. 7.7 Jap is a good one.
