Does anyone have an update on the ETA for the APEG in black with rough texture (AR15)? I ordered one over 3 weeks ago than received an email that it is backordered with a 1-2 week lead time and still no word.

Damn same with me...I put an order in for a handstop set and an Aimpoint and it originally only showed the Aimpoint backordered.  That shipped out this morning and now it just showed the handstops backordered too.  Last time this happened I had an APEG on order when it was backordered and I want to say it was only about 2-3 weeks

I have contacted Larue and was told that they are trying to get the APEG Grip on the manufacturing line but do not have any ETA.

I think I read in another thread that the R.A.T. stock was on the machines right now so I'm guessing that's why there's the delay for all the other goodies while they make this first run of stocks.

I contacted Larue about the rough texture APEGs and the tAR/OBR handstops, they said both will ship "soon" and they gave me a 2 week ETA...that was 2 weeks ago.

I know this is kind of off topic but I wanted to follow up on the handstops. I emailed them about a week ago and was told that they basically have no ETA..read  you'll get it when you get it.

Ordered 10/15 and dropped a message about a week and a half ago and Dan called me back saying they had no time frame and asked if I wanted another color but I want to stick with black. So they may be running some batches of other colors but if you're in for black it'll be awhile.

I placed an order 10/17 which included the black 2 piece handstop set found here:

http://www.laruetactical.com/larue-tactical-handstop-2-piece-set

I got the tracking number for the handstops 11/13 and they were delivered 11/16.

Did you guys order what I did or did you buy the whole set with the index clips?  Perhaps the index clips are backordered as well?

I ordered the one with predatar inserts. Maybe that's why. That's unfortunate

I called just a bit ago and they have the UDE and foliage in stock. I had them change mine to UDE. I assumed I could just transfer over my black hand stops but was informed that they are in fact a bit different in shape and would take more then just drilling out the hole to fit on the adapters.

I took matters into my own hands...

This should suffice until larue gets going on these.

After further review, it looks to be a gap?

Now why didn't I think of that

No, its not a gap panel. I reverse engineered an OBR/tAR rail adapter clone from a standard larue handstop that I had. The material is ABS. You just need to drill a hole in the standard handstop and your good to go. I'll take a pic when I mount it later tonight but I may have 1 or 2 left over if anybody needs one to hold them over until Larue gets around to making them.

Alternatively, you could also take a larue rail section and mill it down to fit. This would work too but you would have to have access to a mill and refinish it when your done.

Hmmm, very nice. I may be interested in one! I have some swag/dust etc. or greenbacks to offer.

Just went to install it on the rifle, it still needs a few tweaks but it will work out well as a temp fix. I'm going to make a new version tomorrow and I'll take pics tomorrow night when I get it installed.

Here it is:

The ABS adapters have a really nice positive “snap” onto the tAR rail. Its pretty solid.

It was tricky getting to adapters to have enough of a low profile so the handstop sits on the same plane as the gap covers. I don’t feel anything grabbing or pinching my fingers.

http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p313/mxl16/20121128_184408.jpg

Not really related but I didn’t like seeing the screw on the rail section so I cut/filed off the internal webbing on an index clip so it could snap over that piece of rail section. It still has a really nice snap to it and it doesn't move around even though the webbing was removed.

I have 3 adapters left and 1 adapter/handstop combo that’s already drilled and ready to go. If you need one, IM me. As a reminder, these are meant to be a temporary fix due to the fact that Larue is not making these right now.
