Long story, short: I'm looking to have my factory barrel reduced to 16.25" OAL.
I contacted ADCO about this Thursday and a nice guy named Steve informed me that yes, they could do it. However, comma, he said that I would have to remove the barrel myself as they didn't have the tools for it. I thought that if these guys, a going commercial concern, couldn't remove the barrel then there was no way that I could - not having *any* tools/resources/etc. available to me. I thanked Steve for his fast response to my question and politely declined. Thought I'd give the horde at ARF a try and bradpierson26 suggested that I speak to Mike @ Nodak Spud about this; I said "I'll drop him a line. I've been saving up my pennies for his new machined AR-180 lower, so why not this, too?" What say you? Pax, Ed |

You need the barrel extension wrench and barrel blocks and you can unscrew the barrel from the "trunion"
You have to use the AR15 barrel extension tool otherwise your whole barrel/extension assembly will spin in the receiver/trunion. (it's pressed in) Josh at Stormwerkz may be able to do this, I don't have the tool. Brownells has them.

Thanks for the rapid reply. I emailed Josh about this (and other things) on 17 OCT 14 and he said "...I am unable to do any outside work right now..." so I guess that's that. On the bright side, maybe I can get the proper tools from Brownells and if I'm feeling adventurous with my AR-180B, I can try to remove the barrel myself. We'll see how froggy I feel. Pax, Ed |

Pax, Ed A few months ago, I had ar15barrels.com do some AR-180B barrel work for me. I had them turn down the muzzle brake and thread the barrel so that I could use other muzzle devices on it. Turn around time wasn't the fastest (maybe 6 to 8 weeks or so) but they did good work. Might want to give them a look. |
