| Have been really considering the new ATH. As an all around rifle it looks to have all the right stuff. I was looking to see if anyone has any first hand experience with the new gun? The 18" mid length barrel seems a good compromise for a general purpose jack of all things. Does it balance and swing well,or does it feel like a full size rifle? It should get a lot of interest from 3 gun guys also. Plus, is it true that it weighs in at 7.7 lbs, and how well does it stay on target with the RR brake? Also I like that it has a ss 1:8 barrel does it handle 55gr ok or just 62 and up? Thanks if you can help and congrats if you got one. |

I think I am the only one who has posted about his ATH on the forum. I keep checking but no one else has until now. My experience can be found here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=38&t=199526
Now, to your questions. It handles very well. In my opinion, it is light, it does balance very well, and it is very very accurate with 55 grain, 69 grain, and 75 grain ammo. I have had concerns about the build quality. The lower receiver leaves something to be desired, and the scratches put on it by the guy who put it together were unnecessary. I would still highly recommend one. You will really like it. Just inspect the hell out of it before walking out the door with it. I bought mine at a gunshow and the dealer (who lives 30 miles away) would not return my phone calls. |
| monadh, thanks for the report. I too am suprised that more intrest or comments have not shown up. This could very well be the gun I purchase. The other coice would be a similar gun in 6.8 spc with the new spec II camber and a 1:11 or 1:12 twist. The new wilson maybe. Thanks again. RR what about you guys getting more options on your 6.8 selection You got every thing else in spades. |

I've been looking really hard at this as an upper to put on my pof lower as my first ar.
Not new to rifles, most of my experience is with marlin levers and I'm a good enough shot with those out to 150yds or so, so I'm sure it will be a while before my shooting can get up to the level of accuracy this upper is capable of. the only thing I've never had any experience with is a muzzle brake. is it obnoxiously loud? would it be fine if I swapped out the muzzle brake for a regular flash hider? |

Hope I'm not too late to this thread.
I'm interested in this rifle as well and would like to use it as an all around AR15, my first. Obviously it shoots well from benchrest with a scope. But how does it do with an EOtech and vertical grip? It weighs in at 7.7lb which is actually less, but not much, than the Operator Tactical 2, the other model that I'm also considering. But the stainless 18" barrel and 3/4 MOA is just so attractive. Weight alone isn't everything, balance also plays a big role in its handling. Please chime in Thanks |
