I ordered two AIM Melonite M4 Barrels for a couple of budget builds and the first seemed to have a tight chamber. It would not accept some factory rounds.. I ordered a couple of days apart, so I received the second one and the barrel extension was loose. I noticed this because the front sight was canted when the barrel was placed in a stripped upper. I have a BROWNELLS AR15 BARREL EXT. TORQUE TOOL and a barrel vise on order. It looks like everything will line up if I torque the barrel back to 140-150 foot pounds. If not, what should I do? I guess send it back??? . I checked with a field gauge and all seems well. But this is before torqueing.
Here are the barrels I received : Aim $149 M4 Melonite Barrels I checked 223 and 5.56 rounds, and they chamber in both barrels with the bolt extractor/ejector stripped. The first barrel would not accept my laser bore sighter , but the second barrel did. So, I suspect a difference in each of the barrels chambering. Also, Field gauge checks out in both barrels. I don't have go/no go gauges. A2 sight is canted about 5 degrees on the second barrel with the loose extension., but I think it should align when torqued to spec. Should I send these barrels back? I am feeling a little disappointed in these two barrels and am having buyer's remorse. |
