I have owned several of these mounts over the past few years. I just purchased a "Tall" version with the new design (Hollow swing arm). It seems to swing much wider than the previous models, but I do not have an old one to compare to.

Can anyone confirm this? Was there a geometry change? And if so, does someone want to trade an old style "low" mount for this one, its straight out of the box.

Thanks

If it is a taller mount, it would invariably swing somewhat wider..... Shouldn't be an issue with contact... I have my setup so it swings in toward my chest and it doesn't interfere with my rig in any way, no matter how far I swing it to the right.....

Roger on the tall mount swinging wider than the short mount, it just seemed that the old style mounts had a smaller angular throw than the new ones.

Thanks to mfingar for the picture.

So the 649 had a pivot riser and a short swing arm, thus it did not swing out as wide.

The new 755 uses the same base as the PVS-14 mount and has a pivot in-line with the rail, and a much longer swing arm, thus is swings wider in the "stowed" position.

I finally picked up a used LT649.

Here is the difference between the two as a reference for anyone that had the same question I did.

I have both and prefer the older one as well. It's a fairly minor annoyance though.
