Hello Everyone,
Now that Colt has reintroduced the Anaconda and Python revolvers, along with a reproduction of a mil-spec type .45 in the M1911A1, is it even a remote possibility that Colt might soon expand their AR rifle line to include more variety? That they might finally be coming to the realization that a mistake was made in taking consumers for granted and that Clinton and his anti-gun zealots no longer occupy the White House? I can't really determine if Colt's revival of these old standards is a hopeful sign or an indication that they are grasping at straws in an attempt to hold off fiscal disaster. I personally hope that it is the former. I would recommend, if they are serious about recapturing market share, that they take a look at the products offered by Bushmaster and Armalite, and then let that be their guide. I would also suggest a return to labeling Colt rifles with the "AR-15" moniker, removal of the receiver block and chrome lining of rifle bores on select models. If Colt got a wild hair and came out with an AR rifle in .308 to compete with Armalite and Stoner, would it sell? I'd be willing to bet that it would. This might all just be wishful thinking on my part, but it sure would be nice if most of the above ramblings came to pass.
Take care, Mike

I really, really doubt it. Even when things were not that bad they had a very limited line. They have started production on the models you stated but they come exclusively from the Custom Shop. I just saw a new Python a couple of days ago, the dealer was asking $1300. Granted they are nice but they really upped the price on these. Doubt they will be selling many of them. Colt would also have to do a massive renovation to their customer service department which is by far one of the worst around. Customers in general have lost faith in Colt products and in the recent past Colt has distanced itself from the civilian market. They would have a very hard time regaining customers if they actually wanted to. It doesn't seem they are putting any effort to do so. Maybe someday Colt will get the proper management and be what it used to be. Like you say they could come up with some really nice models to create some interest and expand their line but that right now seems like a very distant possibility.

I love(d) Colt but I just could not bing my self to buy one this time now that Bushmaster buys all the same parts from the same people as Colt.
In a way it's the same damn gun, every bit as good as Colt in the good old days.

It would be nice to see them stage a come back,I want a .357 or .44 mag and there is no way in hell I'll buy a S&W and need to get back in to the 1911 market again(not this 1991 a1 crap)

Maybe now that we are at war they can get so better cash flow and get back up to speed.

Colt barrels are chromed both chambers AND bores. (MIL SPECS) call them and ask them if ya don't believe me.
