I want to keep some spare parts handy. I think I should keep a hammer, pin and spring on hand. SAW carries the Colt knotched hammer and their own unknotched hammer. I know Colt puts in the knotch to help prevent a slam-fire. Wondering which I should get. Is it a big deal? Whats preferred?
Do triggers go bad? Should I get a back-up trigger, pin and spring?
What extractor spring is recommended? Copper or Green?
What other parts are good to have on hand?
Thanks

The notch is actually meant to stop the bolt group if the disconnector fails.  All things equal, I'd prefer the un-notched hammer.  On the other hand, I prefer a Colt Part over a non-Colt part.  The notch is useless to me since I run all M16 carriers anyway.

I don't know.  I guess I'd take the Colt hammer.

I run F/A carriers also. Does the knotched hammer not catch a F/A carrier if the disco fails?
I already have an assortment of pins and springs, would it be a good idea to have a back-up trigger or is it really not necessary.

The notched hammer serves no purpose with standard M16/M4 bolt carriers; it doesn't negatively affect operation either.

The notched hammer needs to be used in conjunction with an AR15 firing pin and the half moon or SP1 bolt carrier in order for it to serve it intended purpose.

The non-notched hammer SAW offers is to allow the use of HK416 uppers that have the firing pin safety on the bolt carrier.

I don't think you should bother getting spare hammers or triggers, maybe the hammer, trigger, and disconnector springs if that floats your boat.

Spares:  bolt rings, action spring, extractor spring, and properly applied lube.  Spare carbine is good too.

For carbines, use the copper colored extractor spring assembly (P/N SP64026).
Change the action spring when it no longer meets the length specifications in the TM.
(I forgot the numbers and dont have any notes handy)

Thanks for the reply. Got the spare carbine covered.
Just want to keep them all running.
